Sore throat is a type of pain, scratchiness or irritation to the throat.

Sore throat is commonly caused by viral infection (cold or flu). Sore throat that naturally occurs from virus can resolve on its own.

There is another type of sore throat called Strep throat or Streptococcal infection. Strep throat is caused by bacteria and requires treatment with antibiotics to prevent complications.

Sore throat is caused by bacterial infections, seasonal viral infections, allergies, dryness, smoke and other undesirable irritants.

Symptoms of sore throat that you should watch out for are:

● Having pain sensation or scratchy throat

● Difficulty in swallowing

● Pain when swallowing or while talking

● Sore or swollen gland around the neck and throat area

● Swollen and red tonsils

● Pus or white patches around the tonsil area

● A hoarse voice

Infection in the throat or having a sore throat may lead to fever, cough, cold, running nose, body aches, headaches or nausea.

Traditionally doctors or medical providers will treat sore throat with paracetamol or ibuprofen, medicated lozenges or anesthetic spray and if the sore throat is severe than antibiotics will be prescribed. There are other ways that you can do it yourself when you have a sore throat too: gargle with warm salty water for adults, drink plenty of water, eat soft food that is cool or warm, avoid smoking or being near smoking areas, suck on ice cubes and get plenty of rest.

All of this has proven to help, but now what about CBD oil?

To start with CBD or cannabidiol is a natural occuring chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. This compound is also called cannabinoids apart from CBD includes THC, CBG, CBC, CBN, CBDa or THCa. There are over a 100 cannabinoids that have already been identified.

CBD does not have any psychoactive effects therefore it does cause you to feel "high" or alter your state of mind. CBD is known for its various healing properties such as promoting sleep, reducing stress and anxiety, pain relieving, anti-inflammation, improving the immune system, regulating mood, improving appetite and can treat epileptic and seizure symptoms.

So how can CBD help with sore throat? CBD acts as a natural painkiller, an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial are all very essential to treating sore throat. When CBD oil is introduced to your body it will help strengthen your immune system. When a bacterial infection has attacked your body, the immune system may become weak and CBD can make an impact on this. CBD promotes homeostasis in your body system which is essential in keeping your body running smoothly. When your body is out of balance and if left without balance could lead to illness or worst, death.

CBD also has antioxidants which can help rid you of unwanted or undesirable bacteria and waste which is useful against sore throat.

What can antibacterial properties do for sore throat? CBD has antibacterial properties which will help kill bacteria. Lozenges and CBD oil will help to kill bacteria in the oral and throat area.

CBD reduces inflammation. CBD has anti-inflammatory agents that help to reduce proinflammatory cytokines as it is the responsibility of the immune system. When your body detects pathogens, the immune system releases proinflammatory cytokines that leads to inflammation to occur. It is a defense mechanism of your body. CBD will help to reduce the severity of inflammation and bring strength and normality back to your body system hence your sore throat will be cured.

CBD helps relieve pain. A sore throat can be extremely painful and CBD has proven its ability to reduce pain. If CBD is not able to take away all the pain then at least it can relieve the symptoms and bring more comfort.

CBD can act as an analgesic agent too. By this, CBD can act as a pain killer by blocking pain signals from your nerves to reach your brain. By blocking pain signals to your brain, your infected sore throat may be inflamed but it may not hurt as much.

As mentioned above CBD promotes homeostasis in your immune system which means it brings a balance in your immune system and other organs in your body. Homeostasis in the immunity system is important for survival.

There are countless CBD products available today in the market. You will find CBD as vaping oil, capsules, edibles, cannabis flowers buds, tea, tinctures or oil like from Mellow Organic or topicals also available with Mellow Organic. But which is the best? It's hard to say, bit researchers have found that vaping CBD oil and dropping CBD oil under your tongue is the most effective method in taking CBD, however dropping CBD oil can allow your body to fully absorb the CBD and the effects will last longer.

There are three types of CBD available: CBD Isolate contains only CBD and no other components from the cannabis plant, not even THC. It's perfect for people who just want CBD. Full Spectrum normally contains higher amounts of CBD and includes cannabinoids like THC, CBG, CBC, CBN, CBDA, THCV, CBD, CBGA, d8-THC and THCA and all the terpenes. Full spectrum is perfect for people who wants the entourage effect which is when all the components work together bringing the best results for your body. Broad spectrum CBD is like full spectrum except it does not contain THC.

Tips on using CBD for sore throat:

1. If you are new to CBD the consider starting with 0.25ml 2-3 times a day. Once your body is used to CBD then you can slowly increase the dosage.

2. Using CBD not only will relieve pain, inflammation and fight bacteria, but it will also allow your body to rest more. Rest is important for fighting bacterial infection.

3. Shake the bottle well before using everytime.

4. Have a drink of water after you have swallowed the CBD to avoid dry mouth.

5. After dropping CBD under your tongue wait for 30-60 seconds before swallowing to allow CBD to be absorbed through your blood vessels.

Now it's time for you to try the high quality and all natural CBD products from Mellow Organic.
