CBN in Full Spectrum CBD

Getting To Know CBN

It's time to introduce you to another cannabinoid that helps Full Spectrum CBD enhance entourage effects.

THC or Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol has been on the scene for a very long time. In the past when you think of THC you would think of marijuana and pre-rolled cannabis sticks. Today, people's perception of THC is changing. It's not just about getting "high", but now it's viewed as an alternative medicinal treatment. There is another chemical compound from cannabis that is gaining in popularity and becoming a household name, cannabidiol or CBD. While THC has psychoactive properties, CBD is non intoxicating. Both substances have many therapeutic benefits like

Relief pain

Anti-inflammation

Reduce stress and anxiety

Promotes better sleep

Treat insomnia

Anti-seizures

Boost immune system

Regulate appetite

Treat nausea and motion sickness

Anti-depression

There are 100s of cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant and one of them is cannabinol or CBN.

CBN derived from the cannabis sativa plant like CBD, THC and other 100s cannabinoids that are available in full spectrum CBD like Mellow Organic's Mellow Full Spectrum CBD Oil. But how it is processed is quite different from other cannabinoids. CBN can also be produced synthetically.

How is CBN created?

CBN is a byproduct of deformation of THC from heat, air or light. Experts also explain that CBN is often found in dry and aged cannabis.

While CBN may be a by product of THC, but CBN does not have psychoactive effects and is non intoxicating.

How similar is CBN and CBD?

CBD is definitely one of the most well know cannabinoids, CBD and CBN are known for their medical benefits. While CBN is derived from THC, but CBD is independent of from THC.

CBD has had extensive research on its potential benefits while less is known about CBN.

Both CBD and CBD tend to bind to the same receptors CB2 in the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). ECS is responsible for regulating mood, sleep cycle, appetite, pain relief, stress, appetite and immunity system. CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system involve the central nervous system. CB2 receptors are also involved with regulating the immune system.

Though there is much more research needed to fully understand CBN, but for now we know that:

CBN may be able to treat epidermolysis bullosa. Currently researchers are testing CBN cream with epidermolysis bullosa, a rare skin disease that can cause skin to blister easily. They have found that CBN has responded well with people with normal skin and people with the skin disorder.

CBN may have anti-inflammatory properties that can help heal wounds in cases where wounds may not be able to heal due to prolonged inflammation.

CBN may treat glaucoma. A pharmaceutical company, InMed Pharmaceutical have conducted a test by using CBN topicals in conditions like glaucoma. Glaucoma causes vision loss and blindness. Glaucoma is tied to high eye pressure which may cause damage in the optic nerves. The pharmaceutical company treated some retinal cells with CBN and found that there was a high level of cell survival after treatment. CBN outperformed CBD and THC in the testing.

CBN may have neuroprotective properties to protect nervous system cells.

CBN may help to relieve chronic muscle pain. In a study with rats in 2019 both CBD and CBN were combined as treatment and found that the cannabinoids can relieve pain for muscle pain disorders in the jaw muscles, joints and nerves and body pain which causes aches all over or fibromyalgia.

Possible side effects and risk from CBN are:

Drowsiness: it is possible that when CBN is combine with CBD it may cause drowsiness therefore usage during the daytime may not be suitable until we have more information to contradict this statement

Positive Drug Test Results: there have been tests that showed that CBN has led to failing of drug tests perhaps due to its association with THC, but we will know more for sure if this really is the case in the future.
