Survey Shows That Athletes Uses Cannabis Products Regularly Assist In Recovery From Physical Activities

A study found that people that consume cannabis products regularly will assist in recovery from physical activities.

There are over a 100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that have multiple therapeutic properties that can promote better health for your body and mind.

Two of the most well known cannabinoids are CBD and THC. Both are very similar in characteristics but THC has psychoactive properties which will make you feel "high" and intoxicate you. When you ingest THC to your body system it may affect the cognitive functions mainly by interacting with your brain. CBD on the other hand, affects your body and the endocannabinoid system. CBD does not have psychoactive properties so it will not make you high and you can continue with your daily activities worry free.

Researchers from Kent State University publish their findings in The Journal of Cannabis Research surgery over a 100 participants who were using cannabis and participated in resistance exercise and aerobics regularly.

They found that:

  • 20% (22 people) of participants used CBD for recovery from aerobics.

  • 23% (25 people) of participants used CBD for recovery from resistance exercises.

  • 93% said CBD aided their recovery.

  • 7% were not sure.

  • 61% (68 people) used THC to recover from aerobics.

  • 60% (67 people) used THC to recover from resistance exercises.

  • 87% said THC aided their recovery

  • 13% were not sure.

  • Nobody answered "No" to any of the questions.

  • Participants felt that the health risk for using cannabis for recovery from exercises was very low.

For a while now, cannabis has started becoming the go for a natural holistic recovery method apart from the more the traditional methods like massaging, active recovery, nutrition supplements, sleep or wearing compression garments.
